Pappy Smith's Adventure Continues

Day 60 of my journey riding,  The day started out very warm85° but overcast.  Stayed ahead of the rain only got sprinkled on me a couple times. Today was alot if downhill. Covered 57 miles pretty easy but by the end of the ride it was getting very hot.  When I finished it was 103° . The temp here was going to 106°. Heat index put it over 110°. Only going 15 miles tomorrow to get to a hotel and get my supplies before heading into the desert. If things work out as planned should only be 2 days in a tent before I can get to a hotel. Just a couple pictures today. Can't remember what the first one is called? The next was crossing the Colorado River into California. Just after I crossed seen the wild burrows. At the restaurant for dinner and a beer. To all a good night God Bless 

Day 59 of my journey riding, Got up early this morning to get a jump on the day! Loaded up my bik ed leaving my room and a flat tire! Unpacked my bike got out my spare tube and replaced the tube. Beautiful morning to ride 1 picture of the sunrise. Storm clouds in front of me most of the morning.  Saw a partial ra inbox whilet riding. Have picture of it also. Couple pictures of old gas station and some cars. About half way thru my 48 mile ride another flat tire! This makes number 7 all on the back! Unpacked my bike and put on my last spare tire. With the changing of the tires had to ride later in the day and the temp was 102°. You really can feel the heat in your face and when you breathe. Made it to the KOA in Kingman Arizona. There is a young couple camping here that I met White Water Rafting and he took me to the bike shop to pick up a couple more tubes. I plan on patching the 2 from today on Friday. I plan on riding 56 miles tomorrow a

Today I took the day off from riding.   Made plans to go White Water Rafting.  The bus came to pick us up and before we could load up it started leaking anti freeze so they had  to call in another bus. The other bus git there in about 30 minutes.  Loaded up and headed out. 4t minute ride to bottom of the Canyon. They had everything ready for us. Loaded up and headed out what a great day. The guides really new the river and made sure we got the most out of it. The water temp was 45°. The first rapid you go thru and that water hit's  you it take s your breath away. We went thru a number if stages of rapids rating from 3 to 8. What a blast would love to do it again ! Pulled over around noon for a box lunch. Good sandwich and soda a b d chip's. Finished lunch went another 1/2 hr stopped again so we could swim and float down river for a bit. Will have to down load my go pro to see how I did in the rapids. Next few days that I have some

Day 58 of my journey riding, Got up to a warm morning.  Made a quick cup of coffee and had a muffin I bought last night. Headed out around 4:45 am. Got a few nice pictures of the sunrise.  Also got a few pictures along the way. Got in my 38 mile ride before the heat kicked in.  The video is after I got to my hotel for the next 2 nights. Looking forward to rafting in the morning. Took an extra day off to do the rafting. I have been riding for a few days and need the time off my bike.I will be leaving Wednesday morning doing 50 miles to Kingman Arizona. Thursday afternoon should be in California! !! In Peach Springs Arizona now.  What a nice little town of of Route 66! Calling it a day so, Good night God Bless

Day 57 of my journey riding, The day started out cool in the beginning.  Headed out around 5:30 am. Got a few pictures of the sunrise. Only riding 24 miles today. Had a coyote run along g side if me for a bit. Just the one so not a bid deal. Seen a antelope cross about 50 yrs in front of me. Keep Looking For Elk but gave not seen any. Made it to the KOA in Seligman Arizona and called it a day. Jumped in the pool for a bit and did laundry. I called and set up at my next stop in Peach Springs to White Water rafting down the Colorado River into the Grand Canyon. After the rafting trip they helicopter you to the top of the Canyon!  This is set up for Tuesday.  So looking forward to this. The temp at this time is 96° and calling for over a 100° tomorrow. Plan on leaving about 4:40 am to avoid the heat. Will be staying 2 days in Peach Springs. Will be in Neddles California on Friday morning. Looking to be in Santa Monica by the 15 of July. Truly enjoyin myself in
